The Soda Crackers serve up a spicy gumbo of bluegrass, vintage country, swing and jazz. Audiences love their eclectic repertoire! Think Gillian Welch, Bill Monroe, Emmylou Harris, Hank Williams, Flatt & Scruggs, Bob Wills & His Texas Playboys, George Jones…you get the picture.

These long time musical cohorts have played together and been active in the Vancouver bluegrass scene as performers, teachers and mentors for over twenty-five years. They lead a monthly jam for beginners at the ANZA Club, where everyone is welcome to participate.

Band members are: Sue Malcolm – vocals and guitar; Don Fraser – vocals, guitar,  dobro and steel lap; Stu MacDonald – vocals and bass; and Phil Belanger – drums.

Don Fraser’s dazzling instrumental abilities and inventive arrangements are legendary. The Soda Crackers’ varied repertoire offers something for everyone, and they’re full of surprises. Top that off with killer vocals and that’s a recipe for fun! Please come down and join in the fun.
